Making the Most of Your Readings

A Question of Time

I've been writing for the past several months about how to find a good reader and how to get the most from your sessions. Part of making the most of your experience is to be prepared with good questions and a sense of what you want.

Whether it is understanding the astrological forces in play, or hearing from spirit guides, or working with the Tarot cards, good readings open up options, rather than narrowing them down. Instead of implying you are at the mercy of fate, a reading should help you embrace your own power to make your dreams come true.

As I have written in past articles, good readers enjoy helping you fine-tune your questions. But the more time you spend preparing and knowing what you want to discuss, the more time you can spend focusing on answers.

So to prepare for your session, first consider how much time you have to spend. For instance, I most commonly offer hour and half hour readings (although there are additional options, like in my pre-pay package plans, which you can read more about further down this page!).

As you can imagine, we can't cover everything about your love life, health, career, finances, friendships, family, and past lifetimes. (Yes, believe it or not, some people have asked for all that in a half-hour!)

Instead, a half-hour reading is usually ample time to discuss one matter of importance. Normally, we'll have time for one main spread of three to five cards, allowing you time for additional follow-up or clarification cards to be drawn and discussed as well.

Most people choose an hour-long reading, especially if it's their first time talking with me. An hour is ideal for an in-depth discussion of something in your life that might be complex or more challenging for you.

It is also a good amount of time for a general “check-in” reading, usually done with a 10-card Celtic Cross layout. And an hour is comfortable for shorter readings on multiple items of concern. In all cases, there is also usually enough time to draw follow-up cards, if further understanding is needed on anything that may come up.

Next month, I'll share more tips about how you can be better prepared, to get the most out of your readings!
